Ebonite / Hard Rubber:
Unique character...

Due to its special properties Resistance to salt water, acids, and alkalis, electrical insulation properties, high strength combined with low density, high lubricity paired with high abrasion resistance, amazing look and feel, and outstanding polishability make our ebonite highly recognized in many fields.

Due to the special properties, the wood-like appearance, the soft and warm bite, and a special „flow of sound“ , many manufacturers in the music industry are enthusiastic about our ebonite.

In this application area, it is, among other things, a great advantage that ebonite does not swell up upon contact with liquid, unlike wood. Furthermore, ebonite is shatterproof and less sensitive to temperature fluctuations than wood.

Applications in the music industry:

  • Clarinet / saxophone / trumpet mouthpieces
  • Ligatures
  • Flutes
  • Oboes
  • Clarinets
  • Chin board
  • Fingerboards
  • Plectrums
  • Occlusal splint
  • Barrels
  • ………

Due to the soft bite many pipe and cigarette smokers prefer an ebonite mouthpiece over the harder acrylic mouthpieces.

Our color developments allow the creative pipe maker to transform the originally classic black mouthpiece into a design element.

The unique warm feel and glide brought sensational success as early as 1911 to the first black Mont Blanc.

The unique color range developed by us, with its incomparable appearance, has led to a true „Revival of Ebonite“ led.

Due to its excellent lubricity, our ebonite is also used for the feeds of the finest writing instruments.

Due to its unusually warm (ebonite immediately takes on hand temperature) and soft feel, ebonite is used as a grip material in many areas. Hunters in particular praise the exceptional properties of the ebonite handle on hunting knives. Ebonite adheres well in the hand, which is especially advantageous when gutting game.
